I’m new to therapy what is it like? There was a time when I was in a similar position… feeling both anxious and curious about the nature of therapy, how I may have been perceived and what it was. Since executing the courage to embark on becoming vocal about my experience, it has invited so much into my life. Therapists tend to work in different ways with different styles. I often refer to the process as beautiful pain… this discomfort you experience is a signpost, it has the potential to guide you to the truth in whatever it may be you experience. It is work that infuses further understanding of your behaviours, actions, thoughts, and beliefs. By embracing such courage, you open up new pathways to become free from the restraint and pain experienced in your present reality. Through these realisations, you come to recognise the wisdom in yourself, and it becomes a journey of reconnecting who you are at your core. This work will evoke pain and emotion, you will learn to see this pain through a new lens, recognising it as an opportunity for growth and love rather than something inherently wrong with you. It opens the doors to a new realm of self-love, compassion towards others, and a greater connection to the world around you. When you share your thoughts and experiences, they should be listened to attentively without judgment. There will be a sense of curiosity in exploring your concerns and experiences. This space is specifically designed for you to be your authentic self, allowing you to bring forth all that you may carry within you. In various forms of one-to-one work, especially in therapy, an essential element for success is the therapist's ongoing personal growth and self-reflection. I encourage you if you work with me or consult with any other therapist to question what work I/they do to support this. If they continue to do this what that looks like? If the therapist doesn’t show up for themselves, they cannot show up for others, they cannot show up for you. I present this as an invitation and share based on my own experiences and insights.

What is the approach of compassionate inquiry? What is compassion? Compassion is not about making someone feel good, it’s about guiding the individual to their truth. This is important as without being navigated to responsibility we can quickly and easily remain stuck within suffering. Compassion in the context of this work is being open and invited to the truth with the presence of safety. What is an inquiry? An inquiry is an exploration. In the context of this work, it brings clear learning and understanding that the challenges experienced in your present life are dynamics that are replaying from your past. Compassionate inquiry is a gentle dance into the truth of your experience. Learning to understand and meet pain that presents itself. A movement with challenges, not against them. This is done by feeling the body's sensations and meeting these feelings with love. Thus influencing deeper learning and practice to trust your intuition with confidence.

How do I know if you are the right therapist for me?You don’t… I worked with several therapists before I connected with the right one. I feel it's important to allow at least 3/4 sessions to see how you feel about the approach and connection to myself. If you don’t believe it is right for you, we can discuss this before looking for alternative support and work with what feels right at the time. I don’t judge myself or the client if it doesn’t fit, it’s important to remember it's not a reflection on you or me if it isn’t moving in a way of supporting yourself. They will be learning areas to grow from for sure, both sides. I want to share this as I strongly believe there is someone in this space you’ll gel with, it sometimes and commonly takes journeying with others to learn what that looks like for you. A big reason for creating this website is so I can express myself, explain the way I work and show who I am. I hope it helps you gauge my vibe and is supportive of influencing a decision whether to work with me or not.
